My brother is being deployed to Afghanistan next month and i was wondering how early/late do they leave in the day (ex. midnight, noon, etc.) and from where do they leave from ( ex. airports, military bases).
Also can family members have visiting time the day they do leave, if so, for how long?

Hi, My hubby is going to be graduating from bootcamp in a month. His mos is data systems and he is a E2. I am just wondering if there is any active non infantry that have not been deployed? I know i know he is a marine, He is trained to fight, If they need him he will go. I know and knew that when he signed up.. I am just curious if there are some Marines who have not gotten deployed? Thanks.
again. I know he could go. I know plenty of people who use to be in the military that never got deployed. It is a simple question and i do not think it is very nice to be so rude. Why even answer with sarcasm or mean remarks, does it make you feel cool??? I mean really. It is a simple question in need of a simple answer. I have a friend who is leaving the Marines after 8 years and since he started the separation process, I have not heard from him. Does anyone know exactly what he is going through?

Inter-service rivalry among the branches of service is common place and mostly done in good humor. Outside the jokes, humorous stereo-typing and bragging at the end of the day the Army repects the Air Force for their service to their country, the Navy respects the Army and the Coast Guard respects the Navy and all around. NOT the Marines however. Pride is one thing – but showing contempt and disrespect is another. I respect and honor the Marines for their service, what they are what they were created for they are the best at, but if it were not for the other four branches they would just be the Few, the Proud and the Dead Marines.
I know this does not pertain to all Marines but it is a way too common sentiment they present of themselves. I believe this need to be corrected.
As I stated, not ALL Marines – I have friends who are/were Marines. No I’m not thin skinned. Marines and former Marines have shown this attitued all too often.
This is mild example: A Marine made boasting statement that the Marines were the only service that would not accept another services basic training. I corrected him and said “neither does the Coast Guard”. His quick retort was “Yeah but they’re not the Marines”. Okay, but you’re initial statement is still in error.
OH, to the first answer – A soldier is trained to kill and blow up things also, even at a Taliban cocktail party.
This contemptful disrespect is not a prevalent among former and current soldiers, airmen, Navy sailors and Coasties.

if some1 had their college all paid for by financial aid would u still join the marines?
i had made a previous question about this but hey im still curious because i respect all of the us armed forces especially marines.
i want to have the pride and honor a marine does but do not kno if i should go the officer route and wait until school is finished our enlist as an e-2. i want to serve a country that has givin me so much and i have given very little. i would be honored to serve my country but is it right to go now? im very indicisive about this decision because it will last me 6 years. thank you.

I think I remember him saying something about if he goes to college while on the reserves he won’t be sent out but everyone says all the marines are being deployed.
