In a lot of modern war movies, soldiers will tap their heads as a sign to nearby friendly troops. What does thus gesture signify? Also, what hand gesture asks for cover fire?
What does tapping your head mean in military combat? And what is the hand signal for cover fire?
do you know Pakistan is a breeding ground for terrorist?
The United States today unambiguously condemned Pakistan for its role in global terrorism via the Taliban and in South Asia through continued support for militant and terrorist groups active in Kashmir.
“In 2000, South Asia remained a focal point for terrorism directed against the United States further confirming the trend of terrorism shifting from the Middle East to South Asia,” the State Department said in its annual `Patterns of Global Terrorism Report’.
The report said the Taliban continued to provide a safe haven for international terrorists and that the Government of Pakistan “increased its support for the Taliban and continued its support for militant groups active in Indian-held Kashmir, such as the Harkat-ul-Mujahideen.”
The Bush administration has minced no words in accusing the Gen. Pervez Musharraf regime of continuing previous governments’ support for the insurgency in Kashmir. It also took note of the fact that Kashmiri militants continued to operate in Pakistan, raising funds and recruiting new cadre.
Though the Lashkar-e-Taiba has not been formally designated a `Foreign Terrorist Organisation’ (FTO), there is no doubt that the U.S. sees this outfit as a terrorist group, and one of the many that operate in Pakistan. The Terrorism Report takes note of the LeT claiming responsibility for a suicide car-bomb attack against a garrison in Srinagar last April.
Washington has also slammed Islamabad for its continued links with the Harkat, a designated FTO. The Harkat “continues to be active in Pakistan without discouragement by the Government of Pakistan”.
The State Department went on to note that members of this group were responsible for the 1999 hijacking of an Indian Airlines flight out of Kathmandu and that the released Harkat leader, Maulana Masood Azhar, has founded his own Kashmiri militant group and has publicly threatened the U.S.
Another stinging rebuke for Islamabad has come by way of the latter’s links with the Taliban. “Credible reporting indicates that Pakistan is providing the Taliban with material, fuel, funding, technical assistance and military advisors.”
Further, the report said Pakistan has not prevented large numbers of its nationals from moving into Afghanistan to fight for the Taliban. The only soft reference to Pakistan in the report is an acknowledgement that the Government in Islamabad “generally has cooperated with U.S. requests to enhance security for U.S. facilities and personnel”.
Contrary to the sharp observations against Pakistan on the global and regional terrorism fronts, the report spoke of India’s continued cooperative efforts with the U.S. in these areas. It pointed out that in 2000 the U.S.-India Joint Counter Terrorism Working Group met twice and agreed to increased cooperation on mutual counter-terrorism interests

Soldier/Marine throws dog off a cliff?
Had you seen this video that was just released, where some ‘wannabe hardcore’ Marine, or soldier grabs a pup by the neck, and just throws it out in the desert? It just made me mad to see some of our men doing some of the weirdest stuff, instead of winning hearts and minds. Here is the video.
Ps, you don’t have to watch it. But you can post your opinion if you want. Thanks.

What’s the Difference between George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush Military Doctrine?
George H. W. Bush removed Noriega from power and ousted Iraqi forces from Kuwait (Both wars were very short and the later had a large coalition).
George W. Bush toppled two Regimes both of which years later continue to drag on with uncertain results (Afghanistan continues as the war stricken Nation it was prior to our invasion and Osama is still out there, Iraq continues to implode).
So what are the differences between their Military Doctrines that George H. W. Bush’s wars were much more successful than George W. Bush’s?
Isn’t it time we put politics and partisanship aside and support our troops AND their mission?
We live in America where you can get almost anything you want 24/7. Perhaps this is the reason why we are so frustrated with this war because it is not the quick fix we are used to.
Some are saying bring the troops home. I’ve asked military personel how they feel about this and they want our support. They want to do their jobs. They say that the enemy laughs at us when they hear reports from the US about withdrawing troops. WHo do you believe, an actual soldier in Iraq or a politician with an agenda?
Of course, there is always the question, if we leave now, will the enemy follow us home? Maybe, maybe not but why should we risk potentially fighting a war on our own soil?
We are not at war with Iraq, we are there to help them as they are an important ally to us. We are at war with an enemy who wants to destroy Iraq’s weak infrastructure which will have a negative effect throughout the world. Shouldn’t we support our troops effort to help the world?
Rick, there you go, blasting Bush…you are nothing more than a bamboozled follower of the hate-Bush crowd. I was talking about putting partisanship aside and supporting troops. I guess you can’t get past your hatred to do that. Thanks for your answer; it tells a lot about you.
To middleclass, the cut and paste lady, you forgot to paste this excerpt from your atricle:
“Whatever the percentages are, I know 100 percent of our troops want to complete their mission over there,” he said. “My view is, whatever the poll results say, the bottom line is these are troops who will continue their mission, because they would rather fight the enemy overseas than at home.”
What is the difference between military grade m4 and the m4 that is available to civilians?
Besides that the military model can go fully auto what is the other differences between the m4 available for purchase to us and the one that the military is using.
May I ask one trillion dollar question?
This question bugging me as long as we start the war in Iraq. As we all knew the nature of this war was murky in the beginning, and now it is clear that this war is not in the best interest of all of us. I and my son were opposed this murky war in the beginning, but he went to fight against my advice to AWOL anyway. I kept thinking about my writing teacher’s words(I went to school after I got laid off) ” No matter what; my son is guilty as war criminal; he doesn’t have to follow the bad order. We condemned German soldiers in WWII didn’t we?”
Now we spent one trillion dollar and hundreds of thousands dead Iraqis in our soldier’s hands. I don’t think I can deny that this Iraq War is not the same as Hitler’s invasion Poland either.
Is my son a war criminal? In my eyes he was just a nice soccer player nineteen years old kid who follow the orders. If he was not, so how can we call him? A fellow who just follow the orders.
How to make a soldier’s return home special?
My husband is serving in Iraq and has been there since March 06. He is coming home in Feb. 07. What kind of things can I do to make it special? Is making signs, tee shirts for me and our kids, and decorating the car too much? I don’t want to over do it but I want something to let him know we are so happy he is finally home. And that we are proud of him. Any ideas of small gifts I can give out to the other soldiers in his unit? Or would that be overboard too? I sometimes send extra stuff for the other guys when I send my husband packages. I just really want them to know how much we appreciate them and are glad they are home.
wow, you guys have some really great ideas! thanks everyone!
