Why would we want an AWOL soldier teaching our kids? You can probably find a job somewhere in another country. Because morons like you are certainly not wanted here in America.

Yeah youre screwed, you might want to try lowering your standards to the prospects that are available to high school dropouts or ex convicts.

Hopefully impossible. You obviously cannot handle commitment and have no personal responsibility – why would we want that taught to children?

Try getting your dishonorable discharged changed to honorable. try reenlisting to do a tour in a combat zone.

should have thought ahead about your actions. cowardice has its pitfalls. otherwise, you are going to have to work twice as hard as everyone else for the same.

Then life will be hard for you. It would depend on why you got the OTH. This may help:
when possessing a certain type of discharge is a requirement for a job, such as for a clearance, an employer may legally (and almost all do) not only inquire as to the type of discharge if an applicant states that he had any military service, but often requests a copy of the DD 214 discharge paperwork itself. The form lists the type of discharge and the code for reason for discharge, and military-savvy employers can often read the code and determine the reason for the discharge. These codes are available on the Internet for anyone to read. See, e.g, http://www.landscaper.net/discharg.htm#Introduction%20to%20Spin%20Codes

In general, though, employers cannot ask about type of discharge in a preemployment situation when it is not relevant to the job requirements.

Finding a ‘good’ job is hard enough when you’re NOT AWOL from the military. I have been in the Army and Army Reserve for the better part of 17 years, have a masters in my field with 3+ years of experience (and 5 years experience in a closely related field) and have been trying to relocate for the past 8 months…I can’t even get an interview.

Anyway, that’s neither here nor there.

Regardless of the political affiliation of your potential employer, you’re going to be looked upon as a potential risk, just based on the fact that you have a demonstrated track record of not fulfilling your commitments. Good luck with it, you’ve got a tough road ahead.

YOU ARE A COWARD!!! You do not deserve to live in this country! You are a disgrace and you should be tried for desertion and maybe the same thing that happened to Eddie Slovik, (He was a deserter to) find out what happened what happened to him! COWARD!!!!!!!!

This whole thing disgusts me. I feel like the military simply lures people into joining with a bunch of false promises and then forces ythem to stay even if they later find that it’s just not for them. It’s has to be the only job you just can’t quit.

I actually have a friend who went AWOL and I’m glad he did, as it may have saved his life. Now he has a pretty decent job doing electrical work. I’m not so sure about something in education, but then again I have a BA in Sociology and it’s virtually IMPOSSIBLE to find a decent job period. I have to work 2 crappy ones instead.

Anyway, don’t listen to the A-holes who are calling you a coward. I don’t know you’re particular reason for wanting out, but it is always honorable to stand up for yourself. I know a lot of people that have served in Iraq only to realize that our government and this war is nothing but a profit-making sham. Don’t get me wrong, I whole-heartedly respect anyone who will risk their own life for the love of their country and given the opportunity, I’d do it in a heartbeat if there was an honorable war taking place. But, honestly, our government doesn’t give a damn about you, me or anyone that is fighting in Iraq. They don’t even provide them with proper equipment!!! I think everyone should go AWOL all at once so that we can get this war over with once and for all!

why is this man a coward? because he was lied to by countless recruiters and fed false statments that made him decide to join? war and the military is pointless in the grand scheme of life, and it never solves anything. these people who call us deserters cowards really make me laugh, cuz i bet they wouldnt even be able to handle the army… (theyre just happy that the lower class “retards” of america enlist to keep their way of life safe…)
