With all the multiple tours and stop-loss it looks like today’s military see more combat duty even than WW2 soldiers. Is this true?
Do soldiers in the military today see a lot more combat than soldiers of previous generations?

WWII soldiers deployed for the duration of the war. They knew they were coming home when we either won or they were injured to badly to return to the fight. Many units saw prolonged combat under incredible conditions for upwards of 90 days. Today we deploy for one year (Army) and we are currently on bases from which we deploy for normally hours long patrols. Our fathers saw much more combat than we see today.

We lost 20 troops a day in Vietnam for 8 years, = 58,000 troops.

Battles are not fought the way they used to be, we see less action now because we have way to fight from a distance that we didnt have back then. We do still see alot of combat but nothing compared to past wars.
