I’m not in the military, but I know you have to have degree to become an officer. I don’t think you’ll start out as one, but you’ll probably have a fairly high rank. The higher the rank, the higher the pay.

No…you would enter as an officer. But I must also say for you to have the attitude that grunts are stupid, please don’t join. We do not need people with your attitude.

you might be able to go in as an officer. if you don’t want to go in as an officer usually you can come in with a higher rank if you have a college education

My son once checked it out & was told he would be put into a high position but it seems they lie so much so I don’t know what really happens. I think you need to talk to a recruiter to see what they will offer you but be careful not to be brainwashed into anything. If you love home & freedom you are going to give it up so this is not something to do if you are a freethinker.

In the NAVY, you can enter as either an officer or an E3 enlisted. It is your choice. If you enter as an enlisted man, you will be treated like everyone else in boot camp. If you enter as an officer, every one else in officer candidate school has the same or better education than you do.

If you enlist with a bachelor’s degree, then the only added benefit you would receive over a peron with only a high school diploma or some college would be that you would start out as an E-4 rather than a E-1 to E-3.
Contrary to what the other posters are telling you, coming in with a GED does NOT mean that you would come in as an officer. Having a degree is merely a requirement for being an officer, but does not mean automatic promotion.

Do some more research on your own first, you seem to be a smart fellow, but you know nothing of the military it seems. Talk to a recruiter.

If you have an associate degree you wont get anything special besides being able to enlist as an E-3. If you have a degree from a 4 year university you will be able to either enlist as an E-4 or you can join as a 2nd Lieutenant. Don’t join as an officer though. You sound like you would make a bad one. After all your subordinates are “just grunts”.
