About how long after training are Marines usually deployed?

21 Mar

Im sure it differs greatly, but I was just wondering if they gave them some time to spend at their home base or if they are usually deployed soon.

Im hoping for time with my man…but I just want to be mentally prepared.

By the way hes infantry/presidential security.

They get 10 days leave right after boot camp is done.
Then after that they go to there MOS training school
Then after that they get assigned to a duty station
Then from there they can be deployed.

Infantry/Presidential security??? Here’s the layout. Boot: 14weeks 4-10 days leave then off to their school training (Infantry goes to Advanced Infantry Training) which is another 8 weeks or so. After their MOS School, they are given their fleet assignment. Sometimes they get leave before, sometimes not. After that, it depends on their unit and the plans the Corps has for that unit as to where they go. They could be deployed immediately, they could go for further training, they could be sent to another base as replacements for other units deployed, or they could just sit at their base doing normal day-to-day training.

Oh…Presidential Security? Not gonna happen to someone fresh outta boot, or AIT. Besides, the Secret Service does that with the exception of Marine 1, and that is a very special assignment.

I know this isn’t the answer you are looking for but, it all depends on what he does and what the mission requirements are.

    Bubbles (nice name btw),
You will get some time with your man, and the poster who said that Marines don’t do presidential security I gave a thumbs down because we do. Not body guards, but he will fly ahead of the president and make sure that it is safe to fly Marine one into that area.

Chances are he won’t deploy, but he will be traveling quite a bit. Look forward to 5-10 days here and there. If you want him home for longer get him on recruiters assistance and he can stay home for 30 days. I’m sure with a name like bubbles, the recruiters will bend over backwards to help.

    Best of luck
